5 months!

Kayla is 5 months old today!

So far she can:

Roll from tummy to back
Roll from back to tummy (this one takes a lot of work)
Sit by herself for just a few seconds
Eat rice cereal from a spoon
Babble and blow bubbles
Reach and grab for things
Hang on to her toes
Bring objects to her mouth
Hold her bottle (not great at this)
Stand on her feet with support
Sleep 6-7 hours at night

She's started flapping her arms to show frustration or maybe it's that she doesn't know what to do with them - but it looks kind of funny. She likes to watch other people and our dog. She loves to see "another baby" in the mirror.

Naturally she loves to be naked and hates getting dressed! I don't know if I would like someone forcing me in clothes either. As you can imagine things get messy if we leave her diaper off for too long.

We'll be away from Kayla for our longest time ever this weekend. We'll be gone Friday - Monday for a beach trip but the good news is we get to take her later in the week to Myrtle Beach. Pictures will up after all of our trips.

Easter 2008

We had a great day!

We started with breakfast at church, then had our Easter church service. Here are some breakfast/church pictures:

Then we went over to the Ashlock's house for a wonderful lunch and took some more pictures over there.

Then we went over to Nana and Grandpa Shuster's house for even more food for us (Kayla stuck with milk). Kayla was exhausted after such a long day but we had a great time and she was in a pretty good mood most of the day. Next year we can actually have an egg hunt for her.

Here's a picture from earlier in the week that was too cute:

Doing big girl stuff

Here's a video of Kayla playing in her cousin's old bouncy seat and she's doing her new favorite thing - blowing raspberries.

And we're getting ready to celebrate Easter!

Sick :(

What a week! We have all been sick and are now hopefully on the mend. I think we all had some version of stomach flu. Most of our immediate family in GA got sick with it too. This was one bad virus. Needless to say, not many pictures were taken.

Kayla is returning to her normal self. I spent 4 days away from her because I was either sick in bed or someone else was taking care of her-thank you to those who did :)

I can't believe she is creeping into the 5 month old age. It seems like we've just always had her around, but at the same time it also seems like just yesterday that she came into the world.

She is really reaching and grabbing and has finally rolled from her back to her tummy. She loves to grab at her feet too.

Hopefully new pictures up soon!

4 month Dr. visit

Kayla had her 4 month-old check up today and did great! She is 16 lbs. 3 oz. and 26 inches long. Still in the 90th percentile.

She has a little bit of eczema (I had to look up the spelling on that one, but it's basically just dry skin) on her face but some lotion should take care of that. The doctor's orders were cereal 2x a day, everyday. Kayla certainly won't mind more food!

She had to get 5 shots today! I decided to feed her during the shots as a distraction but the nurse warned me that #5 would hurt and sure enough, she screamed for a good minute! Poor baby! But she was fast asleep as soon as she got in the car.

Nana Darden came along and I was very grateful for the help. Here are a few of her latest photos:

Enjoying a bottle while waiting for the Dr. She was sort of holding it herself, but doesn't always do that.

Shopping at the mall.

Taking a bath with ducky.

What a sleepyhead!
